Pompeii

The eruption of Mount Vesuvius happened so fast that the citizens of the city of Pompeii were instantly flash-heated to death, without time to die of suffocation. Come explore the creation, apex, destruction and rediscovery of ancient Pompeii. This course will explore the ancient resort town of the ancient Roman Empire through its social, architectural, artistic, mythological, archaeological and scientific characteristics. Scholars will recreate the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the plaster casts taken of the skeletal remains from the volcano's unsuspecting victims. As a young archaeologist you will learn everything you've ever wanted know about ancient Pompeii.
